A dream, a wish, or a desire.... whichever one I have in my head to long for something, it is often associated with the ocean.
Chugging around the waves of people and cars in Nagoya only makes me daydream about real waves, and if this (mental) condition persists too long in reality, a recurring nightmare begins during the night: I see in the distance a perfect A-frame wave breaking, but my feet are glued on land and the harder I try to reach it, the farther it drifts away from me. Sounds corny to you? But this is all true and can be haunting to me.
Feeling so far away from the water is a torture and this is the very reason why I hardly spent more than a couple of months in any landlocked countries during my RTW trips.

201512 Esky for Sirene Journal (1)

I don't know exactly how they found me.
It was only a couple questions and answers exchanged by email between them and me to start with:

"Are you the author of Air Esky?"
"Yes."
"Are you interested in writing an article about your journey to the Antarctic?"
"Ah..., ok."

Simple!

Soon after signing a deal with them I lifted my anchor to unfold one of the greatest journeys I've ever taken in my life. And I'm now stoked to announce that SIRENE Journal has just published the second issue including my article - "To the World's END".
Me having no journalist-background but being just a vagabond and contributing my Antarctic experience to such a cool magazine is a privilege. Thanks very much to Floriana who found me and let me be part of your voyage!

201512 Esky for Sirene Journal (2)

SIRENE Journal was initially funded through KickStarter and already had their first issue published. It's a completely ad-free magazine and, as you can see in the above photos, the design of the mag is as white and serene as a secret beach on a remote island somewhere on this planet.
This #2 journal also features other sea-lovers' stories whose titles are "The Last Moken", "Diana Nyad", "On the Waves of Dakar", etc. All of them have one concept in essence - the inevitable attraction that we feel for the liquid part of our planet.
You might now think that it's too late for your little Christmas present. Then why don't you order this #2 for your new year's resolution? Because all we need is a little inspiration to leave our Christmas luxuries behind and embark on a new journey.

To order SIRENE Journal #2, please click here.
They are also on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

May the ocean be with you :-)
