Port Lockroy
Finally, the sun gave up playing hide-and-seek with us.
Up until today I thought that Antarctica would never ever have any sunny days throughout the year, but it wasn't true. It was pleasantly warm this morning with a nice breeze in the air.
One of the female staff members at the British base in Port Lockroy came on board this morning to give us a briefing about the history of Port Lockroy before our landing to visit their base.

Even though I feel that the temperature is quite high under this fine weather, the water is still FREEEZING!

Port Lockroy used to be a base for whalers. No wonder some whale-bones were still evidently intact everywhere around here.

One of the buildings of the British base was still kept as how it used to be.
I'm sure the contents inside these cans are still edible today?

We were also able to observe the nests of Gentoo Penguins outside the British base.

Shortly after leaving Port Lockroy, our vessel sailed through Lemaire Channel.
The photo below is me with only a T-shirt on. It was certainly very cold because of the wind-chill on the deck. Nevertheless, I was still able to enjoy sun-bathing then.

Lemaire Channel was so spectacular and almost scary to me. Yet, I couldn't take my eyes off from all these mountains.
***** JPN *****

The photo below is when I returned inside the vessel and enjoyed some tea with my room-mate Fukuda-san.
